Looking to Become Financially Free?

If you're anything like 90% of Americans, you are probably swimming in a good amount of debt wondering when you'll finally feel "financially free." I get it. This has been me for basically all of my adult life. Don't get me wrong, I'm not completely crushed by debt, but I definitely feel chained down by the debts I do have at times...

For the longest time now, I've thought that for me to be financially free would mean for me to have to come into millions of dollars (from who knows where, seeing as I have never really had any money plans). This would finally give me the freedom to live life on my terms, right? Nothing less than millions could ever satisfy me.

Fortunately, I've recently had several epiphanies that have completely changed my thoughts about financial freedom. You see, it's not about having millions, it's about making your money do what you want it to do. It's developing discipline. It's learning to intently focus on eliminating your debts and planning for the future.

In other words it's, "living like no one else so that later you can live like no one else." I've just finished reading Dave Ramsey's The Total Money Makeover, and he used that phrase all throughout the book. It was really an incredible read, and it made me feel like I truly do have power over my finances. It's packed full of different finance plans and ideas to achieve financial freedom that are so simple that Dave calls them "Baby Steps." These are the Baby Steps:

Baby Step 1 – $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund

Baby Step 2 – Pay off all debt using the Debt Snowball

Baby Step 3 – 3 to 6 months of expenses in savings

Baby Step 4 – Invest 15% of household income into Roth IRAs and pre-tax retirement

Baby Step 5 – College funding for children

Baby Step 6 – Pay off home early

Baby Step 7 – Build wealth and give!

I know on the surface that these don't tell you much, but that's why you have to get this book. It's so simple, yet so incredible. I haven't been able to shut-up about it for days (my poor wife)! I am just so on fire for what this book could do for so many people, myself included. I'll drop a link for it below, so seriously, check it out. You won't regret it. And as always, thanks again for reading. Until next time!
